Fachhochschule Schmalkalden, Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: "Nichts in der Geschichte ist beständiger als der Wandel", so lautet ein altes Sprichwort, welches wohl von Charles Darwin stammt, und von Heinrich Heine aufgenommen wurde. Die genaue Herkunft ist unklar, aber das Zitat hat auch heute nichts von seiner Gültigkeit verloren. Der Wandel ist allgegenwärtig, man muss ständig neue Lösungen finden, um mit dem andauernden Fortschritt Schritt halten zu können. Seit der rasanten Verbreitung des Internet und des Aufkommens eines neuen Audiokompressionsverfahrens namens "MPEG Audio Layer 3" (kurz MP3), wurde die Musikindustrie Ende der 90er Jahre in eine auch jetzt noch andauernde Krise versetzt. Es gab drastische Umsatzeinbrüche im CD-Bereich, da nur noch wenige bereit waren, für ein Gut, das es auch kostenlos gab, noch zu bezahlen. Es wurde ein Trend verschlafen und die Tausch-börsen boomten. Es begann mit Napster, der Tauschbörse, die die Ära der Tauschbörsen begründete. In den Jahren darauf folgten Gnutella, Kazaa, eMule und BitTorrent. Wo eine Tauschbörse verschwand, tauchte die Nächste auf. Jede war ein bisschen gewitzter als sein Vorgänger, da auch die technische Entwicklung der Tauschbörsen voranschritt. Erst als Napster bereits boomte, zogen legale Anbieter von Musik nach. Aber nicht etwa die Plattenfirmen reagierten, sondern Dotcom-Unternehmen und kleine Startups waren die Ersten, die in diesen noch jungen Markt hineindrängten. Und wie sieht es heute aus? Zielsetzung dieser Diplomarbeit ist es nun, wichtige Erfolgsfaktoren für Musik-downloadportale zu finden, diese auf aktuelle Downloadportale anzuwenden, um mögliche Entwicklungspotentiale aufzudecken, und eine Aussage treffen zu können, welche Art von Downloadportalen in Zukunft erfolgreich sein werden.
