Den här boken är utformad för mellanstadiet och högstadiet för att få en grundläggande förståelse för musik. Problemet uppstår när läraren sedan ska spela med alla tillsammans och måste då hjälpa elever som inte förstått vad de gör. Min erfarenhet är att det läggs många timmar på samma elever för att visa vad som ska spelas, medan de elever som inte får hjälp inte heller når sin fulla potential. Efter att ha letat efter passande läromedel, valde jag till slut att skriva en egen bok utefter den undervisningsform jag själv tror på. Det blev en övningsbok med enkla förklaringar inom områden som noter, toner, ackord och TABs. Övningarna och uppgifterna är till för att knäcka koden för tänkandet inom musik rent teoretiskt, för att sen lättare kunna applicera det praktiskt. Boken utformas liknande en matematikbok med grundläggande kunskaper och extra utmaningar. Boken har testats i klassrum i olika åldrar, och flera elever har kunnat gå direkt från boken till spelande på instrumenten. När eleverna har skaffat sig god förståelse för hur tonerna i ett ackord är uppbyggt, har de lättare kunnat applicera det på instrumenten. För mig som lärare har det skapats mer tid att planera in praktiska övningar som är i nivå med elevernas kunskapsnivå. Boken berör flera områden av kursplanen inom ämnet musik, och förhoppningen är att det ska vara ett självklart redskap för både lärare och elever i skolvärlden, och att intresset för musikämnet ökar.
