Eine umfangreiche Analyse ist derzeitig aufgrund spärlicher wissenschaftlicher Forschung schwierig, dennoch bildet die Aktualität die Grundlage für die Faszination, die dieser Sport mit sich bringt. Selbst konkurrierende Sportbranchen haben erkannt, dass eSport eine Branche mit einem hohen Wachstumspotential ist und die Tauglichkeit zum Volkssport aufweist. Die Arbeit folgt einem dreigliedrigen Aufbau, wobei im ersten Teil die wissenschaftliche Grundlage dargelegt, im zweiten Teil in den Untersuchungsgegenstand eingeführt und schlie lich im dritten Teil die Muster und Inszenierung von eSport Events analysiert werden. Im ersten Teil wird der Begriff des Events aus soziologischer Perspektive dargestellt. Es wird zudem auf den stereotypen Ablauf eines Events eingegangen. Im zweiten Teil werden zunächst die Grundlagen des eSports vorgestellt, um Begrifflichkeiten, die für die spätere Analyse relevant sind, zu erläutern. Anschlie end werden die Akteure, der Aufbau von Verbänden und deren Clans abgebildet. Zum besseren Verständnis des eSports werden die populärsten Spielformate dargelegt und erläutert, wieso manche Spielformate erfolgreicher sind als andere. An-schlie end werden relevante ökonomische Gesichtspunkte beschrieben, da die Kommerzialisierung des eSports mit dessen Wachstum zugenommen hat. Abschlie end werden Probleme und Risiken der eSport-Branche aufgezeigt und diskutiert.
