Lieutenant Colonel Sir Francis Edward Younghusband (1863–1942) was a British Army officer, explorer, and prolific writer whose works spanned exploration, politics, spirituality, and mysticism. He played a key role in British imperial expeditions, notably the 1904 mission to Lhasa, Tibet. Younghusband’s writings reflect his transformation from imperial adventurer to spiritual seeker. His books, such as The Heart of a Continent, India and Tibet, and The Heart of Nature, explore both physical frontiers and inner journeys. Later, he championed interfaith unity and cosmic spirituality, founding the World Congress of Faiths. His legacy bridges exploration, Eastern philosophy, and universal religious ideals.
