Independent India’s greatest tragedy was the thrusting of Muslim appeasement policies on the nation under pressure of left-liberals and pan-Islamists. It was the biggest blow to the Hindus—the majority community which was freeing itself from foreign bondage after 800 years. It also laid the foundation for divisive politics in the country. Even Dr B.R. Ambedkar was opposed to such appeasement which meant denying Hindus the full possession of Ayodhya, Kashi-Vishwanath and Mathura temples.

My Idea of Nation First provides deep insights into these issues, besides providing a nationalist view on many controversial episodes. While warning about various threats, this book reserves ample space for truly moderate minorities in keeping with Veer Savarkar’s thoughts, which have often been distorted by his ideological adversaries in the historical past.

My Idea of Nation First is about unalloyed nationalism, or true nation-first. It is a humble attempt to remove distortions in history with a truly nationalist and dispassionate approach. In a way, this book can also be called a bundle of innovative writings on national awakening. Complete truthfulness is the cornerstone of the chapters included here.

Uday Mahurkar is a well-known author, veteran journalist and nationalist thinker with deep insights into various contentious issues facing the nation. His three books—two on Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance model and one on Veer Savarkar’s national security vision—are quite well known. A former Central Information (RTI) Commissioner, he holds expertise on Veer Savarkar’s thoughts, Hindu-Muslim relations and radical Islamic ideology, Modi model of governance, correction of distorted history, and the impact of perverted content coming via OTT and social media platforms on Bharat’s culture and character, on which he is currently leading a nationwide movement through his Save Culture Save Bharat Foundation.
