First published in German in 1925 and translated into English in 1929, My System is the most influential chess book ever written. In it, Aron Nimzowitsch - one of the most original and provocative minds in the history of chess - systematically lays out a revolutionary theory of chess strategy that overturned the classical principles established by Wilhelm Steinitz and Siegbert Tarrasch and permanently changed the way the game is understood and played.

About the Author

Aron Nimzowitsch (1886-1935) was one of the greatest chess players of his era, ranked among the top three players in the world during the late 1920s and widely considered the most original chess thinker of the twentieth century. Born in Riga, Latvia, he spent much of his career in Scandinavia and became a dominant force in European tournament chess. Along with My System he authored Chess Praxis and Blockade, completing a trilogy of theoretical works that together constitute one of the most significant contributions to chess literature ever made. His hypermodern school of thought - developed alongside Richard R�ti and Savielly Tartakower - revolutionized opening theory and strategic thinking in ways that persist to the present day.
