The author was born in Madras in 1941. He was raised by his grandmother in Coimbatore, where he attended Suburban elementary and middle school.

He was a member of the Children's Club on V.M. Street.

He moved to Jamshedpur to be with his parents. He joined Kamachha in Banaras for his intermediate science in 1956, then graduated from Banaras Engineering College in 1962 as a mechanical engineer. He joined as a graduate apprentice in Telco, Jamshedpur, in 1963. As a member of the United Club in Northern Town, he read Time, Life, Look, and National Geographic magazines with a passion. The politics, history, geography, and space travel fascinated him and kindled a desire to immigrate to the USA, which he did in August of 1969. He also helped around 20 friends from Telco and Tisco. In the US, he worked as an engineer in nuclear and fossil plants. He raised a family and retired in 1999. He came to Madras and built a 12-apartment complex in 2000 in Mylapore. He spent the next 4 years traveling around the world, visiting Madras and California. Then after, he spent 14 years in a Del Webb community at Rancho Resort in Sahuarita, Arizona. He ran the Solo Club there for 10 years. Subsequently, he moved to a senior independent community, 'The Gardens' in Pleasanton, California, near his son, due to bad health, and he lives there now. He comes to Madras every year to visit family.
