Ronald spent hours upon hours in the reference rooms of county libraries researching written accounts on the beginnings of Athens and Henderson County, and his findings have been intertwined into his story in such a way that the history of Athens and Henderson County unfolds as he walks down street after street. Mr. McClure includes many historical facts along with his walk; including folklore that has been around Athens for a very long time, Koon Kreek Klub, a 1920 bank robbery at Athens National Bank, a story about the 1929 and 1930 Athens Hornet National Championship Basketball Team, the making of the first dirt roads and the first railroads and more recent events. Share Ronald's experience as he walks down every street in Athens meeting interesting local people along the way. There is a present-day walk, a walk in times past and a spiritual journey all put together in a literary sense so that the reader will find the material informative and enjoyable. I dedicate this book to Floy Miller Little, whose personal input made it possible for me to see more clearly into the days of long ago, and by whose suggestions this book was written in a more informative way.
