Das vorliegende Such ist aus gleichnamigen Vorlesungen entstanden, die wir seit langerer Zeit an den Universitaten Stuttgart bzw. Karlsruhe halten. Diese Vorlesungen sind Wahlfacher fOr Studenten der Nachrichtentechnik und verwandter Gebiete in hoheren Semestern. Allerdings war es nicht die Absicht des Herausgebers, in seine Suchreihe "Nachrichtentechnik" einen reinen Vorlesungstext aufzunehmen. Ange- strebt wurde vielmehr eine umfassende Darstellung nach Art einer Monographie. Wir haben versucht, diesem Wunsch zu entsprechen, ohne dabei die Verwendbarkeit dieses Textes in Vorlesungen einschranken zu wollen. Die NachrichenmeBtechnik befaBt sich mit den MeBmethoden und -verfahren, die der direkten Messung iibertragungstechnischer GroBen dienen. Sie ist daher weitgehend auf die Anwendung in bestimmten Nachrichtensysternen ausgerichtet, wodurch sie sich von der klassischen MeBtechnik unterscheidet. Allerdings kann die Vielfalt moderner Nachrichtensysteme zu einer Zersplitterung fOhren, die gegeniiber der klassischen MeBtechnik eine systematische Behandlung sehr erschwert. Das zeigt sich u.a. daran, daB es viele Einzelveroffentlichungen, jedoch kaum zusammenfassende Darstellungen gibt. Dieser Umstand hat zur Entstehung des Suches beigetragen. Der gesamte Stoff ist in sieben Kapiteln dargestellt, wovon jedes einer bestimmten MeBaufgabe gewidmet ist. Nur das letzte Kapitel weicht von diesem Schema ab; in ihm sind aile MeBaufgaben zusammengefaBt, die fOr digitale Systeme typisch sind. Hier ist also nicht das MeBproblem, sondern das MeBobjekt bestimmend gewesen.
