Negli ultimi anni di vita la mia nonna paterna era solita raccontare centinaia di aneddoti. Parlava per ore, a perdifiato, incurante che qualcuno la ascoltasse. A ripensarci ora, credo che fosse un modo di riavvolgere il nastro e rivivere le scene
più interessanti della sua vita.


Il mio nonno materno era fatto di roccia dura. Era un omone alto e bello, amava uscire all'alba e tornare a casa con le mani ferite. Sapete come le curava? Con il mercurio cromo. La sua pelle era piena di graffiti rossi: quanto ne andava fiero.
Nonna M. ora veste di nero e ha una gatta che si chiama Birba. Uno splendido esemplare vanitoso, che annusa la giacca e le scarpe di chiunque entri in casa. In quest'ultimo anno di prudenza solitaria, le due sono diventate molto amiche.
Mamma e zia mi hanno raccontato a lungo della mia bisnonna, che faceva la domestica nella casa di un signore benestante. Per molti anni, non ho fatto altro che immaginare la sua vita: il tragitto verso la casa al mare, la stanchezza, l'umiltà. Quando ho cominciato a scrivere, mille anni fa, non avevo idea di quanto fossero importanti i ricordi. L'ho capito strada facendo, inciampando qua e là, costruendo castelli di carte e soffitti di cristallo.

Poi è nato Lorenzo, e ho compreso che le storie erano il modo migliore per portarmi appresso una grande eredità. Ho temuto di dimenticare.

Così, insieme, abbiamo cominciato a costruire castelli di sabbia, tra re, regine e ragnetti fastidiosi.

A quegli stessi ragnetti ho rubato un filo sottile ed invisibile, perché tenesse le mie storie sospese a qualche metro da terra.

Per alcuni anni sono stata una madre premurosa: le ho accudite, le ho nutrite, le ho protette dal rumore e dal clamore. Non le ho chiamate favolette: sanno benissimo che non esiste un lieto fine per tutti. Ho detto loro che esistono vite, esistenze, credenze e speranze.

C'è il sogno, la realtà, e c'è un limbo: è lì che si trovano i miei racconti.

L'autrice

Mi chiamo Simona, ho 34 anni e vivo a Baunei, in Sardegna.

Nel 2009 mi sono laureata in Scienze Politiche a Cagliari, dopodiché la vita mi ha portato altrove. Ho ripreso gli studi nel 2017, mettendomi in tasca una magistrale in Relazioni Internazionali nel 2020.

Sono mamma di Lorenzo che è la parte saliente della mia vita da otto anni (quasi nove, direbbe lui).

Amo viaggiare: vicino, lontano, dovunque. Amo leggere: ultimo libro adorato, Cambiare l'acqua ai fiori, di Valérie Perrin. Scrivo da sempre: le mie prime poesie erano scarabocchiate sulle agendine Erbolario
che mi regalava mia zia.
