Forschungsarbeit aus dem Jahr 2005 im Fachbereich Ethnologie / Volkskunde, Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg (Institut für Völkerkunde), Sprache: Deutsch, Abstract: Zunächst wird ein theoretischer Überblick über ethnologische Tourismusforschung, Begriffe nationale Touristen in "Entwicklungsländern" und den community based tourism Ansatz gegeben. Danach wird der Forschungsprozess reflektiert um dann die eigentliche Forschung zu behandeln. Die Forschung hat zum Ziel, die verschiedenen Formen des Naturtourismus am Vulkan Merapi auf Java (Indonesien) zu beschreiben und im Hinblick auf deren Nachhaltigkeit zu analysieren. Für die Untersuchung wurde Kaliurang mit sehr ausgeprägten touristischen Strukturen und die Dörfer Sambi und Turgor gewählt. Es wurden verschiedene Kategorien von Touristen entwickelt und diese bezüglich ihrer Motivationen und Wünsche untersucht. Die lokale Bevölkerung der Dörfer wurde zu positiven und negativen Auswirkungen befragt. Zu internationalen Touristen gibt es bereits zahlreiche Untersuchungen, so dass hier explizit ein Gebiet ausgewählt wurde, in dem nationale Touristen dominieren. Zurzeit gibt es in der Region einen Konflikt um den geplanten Nationalpark, der schon beschlossen worden war. Inzwischen liegt die Entscheidung darüber beim Gericht in Jakarta. Zu diesem Thema wurden die Touristen, die lokale Bevölkerung, eine der verantwortlichen Behörden und die beteiligten Nichtregierungsorganisationen (NROs) befragt.
