Einleitung Es gibt Momente, in welchen das Nicht-Verstehen seinen festen rituellen Stellenwert hat: gepaart mit den Affekten von Fassungslosigkeit und Entset- zen wird es in den �blichen Reden an einem offenen Grab zitiert oder besser: das Nicht-Verstehen wird angerufen. Es ist der individuelle Tod, der sich nach dem �ffentlichen Sprachgebrauch dem Verstehen entzieht. Der Tod in seiner Allgemeinheit steht sehr wohl, von der Theologie bis zur Biologie, verschiedenen Verstehensversuchen offen, aber das Ritual der Verst�ndnis- losigkeit �berlebt auch diese Versuche, kann man sich es doch an einem offenen Grab kaum leisten, zu sagen, manverstehe nur zu gut, wieso dort unten eine Leiche liegt. Denn der Tod ist das radikalste Ph�nomen, eigentlich das Paradigma dessen, was dem Menschen in der Figur der Gewalt des Na- t�rlichen oder der nat�rlichen Gewalt zugemutet wird. So ist also der Umgang mit Zumutungen thematisiert, und eine Zumutung der Philosophie w�re es, wenn sie sich verpflichtet f�hlte, noch am offenen Grab etwas aufzukl�ren. Heidegger mutet ihr das zu, - meist aber antwortet Philosophie auf das offene Grab mit einem nominalistischen Vorbehalt.
