Inhaltsangabe: Zusammenfassung: In den letzten Jahren haben Veränderungen im Bildungssystem stattgefunden. Neue Medien wie Computer und Internet haben nicht nur in die Haushalte, sondern auch in die Schulen mehr und mehr Einzug gehalten. Diese Entwicklung ist von vielen verschiedenen aktoren abhängig. Zum einen hat die 1996 gestartete Initiative „Schulen ans Netz" dazu beigetragen, mehrere tausend Schulen an das Internet anzubinden und mit Rechnern auszustatten, zum anderen ist nicht zu übersehen, dass Kinder und Jugendliche den Computer auch in ihrer Freizeit täglich nutzen. Er steht mittlerweile an sechster Stelle der liebsten Freizeitbeschäftigungen der Sechs- bis Dreizehnjährigen, dabei hat der Anteil im Vergleich zu den Vorjahren deutlich zugenommen (vgl. FEIERABEND/KLINGLER 2001, S. 347). Obwohl die Schule vor einer solchen Entwicklung nicht Halt machen kann, sind Umsetzungsschwierigkeiten durchaus festzustellen. Es herrscht keine Einigkeit darüber, was wie und ob überhaupt mit Computern gelernt werden kann und soll (vgl. u.a. DÖRING 1997a, S.; GASCHKE 2000, S. 7, V. HENTIG 1997, S.50). Der Verein „Schulen ans Netz" beauftragte 1998 ein Konsortium mit der Evaluation der Initiative, um den Zustand der schulischen Arbeit mit dem Internet zu erfassen und damit letztlich die Arbeit der Initiative zu verbessern. Dazu wurde unter anderem eine Befragung der ComputerkoordinatorInnen an den geförderten Schulen durchgeführt (vgl. HUNNESHAGEN/SCHULZ-ZANDER/WEINREICH 2000, S. 155 ff.) Die technische Entwicklung in den Schulen ist in den letzten drei Jahren fortgeschritten. Aus diesem Grund wurde mit dieser Arbeit eine Studie durchgeführt, die den neuesten Stand dieser Entwicklung aufzeigt: wie die Implementation von neuen Medien an Schulen realisiert wird, auf welchem Stand sie sich befinden, welche Chancen und Schwierigkeiten dabei auftreten und welche Empfehlungen und Perspektiven sich letztlich daraus ergeben.
