Dabei werden aktuelle Trends herausgearbeitet sowie mögliche Instrumente zur Umsetzung vorgestellt. Demnach sind folgende Bereich der Beschaffung besonderen Veränderungen unterlegen: - Organisation: zentral vs. Dezentral sowie Hybridformen. Au erdem Outsourcing von Teilen der Beschaffungsfunktion. - Supply Chain Management: Beschaffung wird zunehmend als Teil der unternehmensübergreifenden Wertschöpfungskette angesehen. Die Kooperation mit den Lieferanten erreicht daher neue Dimnesionen. Au erdem gewinnt die Beschaffungslogistik und deren Anbieter zunehmend an Bedeutung. - E-Business: E-Procurement und darin enthaltene Instrumente wie virtuelle Marktplätze, kataloge o.ä. gewinnt immer mehr an Bedeutung, wenn auch noch Vorbehalte bestehen. In der darauf aufbauenden Analyse über die Entwicklung des strategischen Beschaffungsmanagements in Deutschland lässt sich feststellen, dass Potentiale der skizzierten Trends noch nicht ausreichend genutzt werden. Dies lässt sich oft auf den Stellenwert des Einkaufs in der Organisation, aber auch auf die Qualifikation des Einkaufspersonals zurückführen. Sowohl die organisatorische Stellung der Abteilung als auch die gezielte Entwicklung von Fachkräften sind daher als wichtige Eckpfeiler für eines strategische Ausrichtung der Beschaffung zu nennen.
