L'extrait m�thanolique de Coccinia grandis a �t� test� pour son action analg�sique et anti-inflammatoire sur un mod�le de rat neuropathique diab�tique induit par la STZ. L'activit� inflammatoire aigu� a �t� �tudi�e par le test de douleur de Randal. La coordination nociceptive, neuromusculaire, les m�diateurs �lectrophysiologiques et inflammatoires tels que la cyclooxyg�nase et la PG peroxydase qui contribuent � la douleur neuropathique ont �t� d�termin�s dans le nerf sciatique et le cerveau. L'activit� analg�sique a �t� �tudi�e chez le rat � l'aide des tests de la plaque chauffante et du retrait de la queue (tail-flick). Des alt�rations neurochimiques telles que le glucose, le fructose, le sorbitol et le glutathion r�duit ont �t� d�termin�es dans le nerf sciatique et le cerveau. Des enzymes telles que l'hexokinase, l'aldose r�ductase, la sorbitol d�shydrog�nase et la glucose-6-phosphate d�shydrog�nase ont �galement �t� d�termin�es apr�s 3 semaines. Une alt�ration histopathologique du nerf sciatique et du cerveau a �galement �t� �tudi�e. La pathologie de tous les organes vitaux tels que le rein, le foie et l'intestin a �t� analys�e. En conclusion, l'extrait de feuille de Coccinia grandis poss�de des activit�s anti-inflammatoires et analg�siques, un effet antidiab�tique et non toxique.
