Verglichen mit der Flut von Publikationen tiber Psycho- therapie, die zumeist die Neurosenbehandlung betref- fen, gibt es erstaunlich wenige zusammenfassende Dar- stellungen der Neurosen, die die haufIgsten psychischen Krankheiten sind. Zudem fallt auf, wie lange die Neu- rosenlehre nicht mehr das Thema eines psychiatrischen Kongresses war, obwohl doch die Neurosenforschung in den letzten Jahrzehnten wesentliche Fortschritte er- zielt hat. Diese tlberlegungen fiihrten dazu, die 88. Tagung der Gesellschaft Nord- und Nordwestdeutscher Neuro- logen und Psychiater 1979 in MUnster unter das Leit- thema "Neurosen" zu stellen und zugleich dieses Buch zu planen. Etwa der Halfte der Kapitelliegen Vortrage zugrunde, die bei dieser Tagung gehalten wurden. Urn die Thematik abzurunden, erbaten wir eine Reihe wei- terer Beitrage. Die Einzelthemen behandeln die Neuro- sen Erwachsener. Es wiirde den gewahlten Rahmen sprengen, zugleich auch die Neurosen im Kindes- und Jugendalter darzustellen. Aus fachlichen GrUnden wur- de aber der Beitrag tiber die Beziehungen zwischen mi- nimaler cerebraler Dysfunktion und Neurosen von ei- nem Kinderpsychiater verfa t. Allen Autoren danken wir fiir ihre bereitwillige Mitarbeit. Das vorliegende Buch versucht, den gegenwartigen Stand der Neurosenforschung darzustellen und ihre Er- gebnisse fiir die Praxis nutzbar zu machen. Es ist fiir Facharzte wie fiir andere Arzte und fiir alle diejenigen geschrieben, die sich beruflich mit der Behandlung von Neurosekranken befassen. Wir widmen dieses Buch Friedrich Mauz, der im Juli 1979 in MUnster starb. Wie kaum ein anderer Psychiater farderte Mauz die Neurosenforschung und -behandlung in der Psychiatrie.
