About The Author

Jay Elder served in the U.S. Army as an armor crewman from 1976-1980. After separating from the service, he married and attended Central Texas College and the University of Texas at San Antonio, where he concentrated his studies on math, science, and biomedical science. He was accepted to The University of Texas Health Science Center San Antonio Dental Branch, graduating with a D.D.S. degree in 1989. Jay, his wife, and three children reside in Texas where he is currently working on two additional books related to self-sufficiency during times of adversity.
