This book presents time synchronization and its essential role as a conduit of optimized networks and as one of the key imperatives of ubiquitous connectivity. The author discusses how, without proper time synchronization, many mission critical infrastructures such as 5G mobile networks, smart grids, data centres CATV, and industrial networks would render in serious performance issues and may be subject to catastrophic failure. The book provides a thorough understanding of time synchronization from fundamental concepts to the application of time synchronization in NextGen mission critical infrastructure. Readers will find information not only on designing the optimized products for mission critical infrastructure but also on building NextGen mission critical infrastructure.

About The Author

Dhiman Deb Chowdhury is a high-tech industry veteran with 25+ years' experience with progressive career in data and telecommunications industry. He is currently serving as the head of product management and strategic marketing for time and frequency division at Trimble, Inc where he defines products, oversees product innovations, technology accumulation and manages product marketing. Prior to joining Trimble, Mr. Chowdhury served as Vice President of Product Marketing and Business Development at IP Infusion. As the technology leader and executive of the firm, Dhiman defined technology and product roadmap and engaged with leading industry forums to advocate network disaggregation and open innovation in high-tech field. He extensively traveled around the world to present network disaggregation technologies and its application to building smart nextgen network infrastructure in various technology conferences and tradeshows. At Delta Electronics, Dhiman led the formation of Agema System, a technology venture where he defined open networking technology and product roadmap. He was at the forefront of whitebox and open networking movement during his tenure at Delta. Prior to Delta, Mr Chowdhury managed R&D at Allied Telesis, created Industry first VOIP products at Neatgear and Nortel. At Nortel, Dhiman was also instrumental to Nortel's QoS architecture specification. Mr. Chowdhury wrote numerous scholarly articles and three technology books some of them are still used in undergraduate studies. He holds BSEE in Telecommunications and Electronics Engineering, MBA from Liverpool University and conducted doctoral research at The Robert Gordon University.
