NGOs make a significant contribution to the developing countries of Africa. According to the NGOs Sustainability Ranking, the majority ofNGOs in Africa faces legal obstacles in specific. In most African countries, especially in Ethiopia, advocacy work is very poor. There is no direct link between NGOs and policymakers. No coalitions based on issues have been developed and broadbased advocacy programs have been conducted. NGOs do not engage in the different levels ofgovernment decision-making.This book focused on the health services rendered by non governmental organizations along with government programmes and with the United Nations which is predominant in the health service sector. The World Health Organization (WHO) has acknowledged NGOs in various ways like increasing recognition by involving in the government programs and in creating an effective people's voice towards their requirements and expectations related to better and qualitative health services. This piece of research work was conducted at Tigray region, Ethiopia.NGOs make a significant contribution to the developing countries of Africa. However, in most of the African countries, especially in Ethiopia, advocacy activity is very poor. There is no direct link between NGOs and policy makers. It is evident that there is very poor health service sector in Ethiopia.This book emphasized on the practices and challenges of NGOs and the healthcare service supported by the NGOs and also how to work together with government. Dr. Karanam Viswa Bhushan, Associate professor of social work who has been working in Maharaja's Post graduate college(awarded 'A' Grade by NACC) since two decades (affiliated to Andhra university) Vizianagaram, Andhra Pradesh. India.He successfully completed the employment contract under Unite Nations Development Programme (UNDP) for two years as Associate Professor in Ethiopian Civil Service University, Ethiopia .During this tenure a lot of research work was done in various social issues.He secured his Bachelor's, Master's (Post Graduation) and Doctoral degrees in social work from Andhra University and awarded first rankwith gold medal at post graduation studies. His area of specialization is community development. He secured International certificate in community development and Adult education at Nijmegen University, Netherlands.He has participated in several National and International (Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, Germany, Thailand, Malaysia and Canada) seminars, conferences and workshops and enriched with the knowledge of social work education. He has zeal of learning and greataptitude towards teaching and research. He has delivered guest lectures in several universities in Canada, Belgium and Germany. His focused areas are capacity building, empowering women groups (SHG'S, DWACRA'S), child education and health, youth development, Awareness building on social issues, community development in urban slums, rural and tribal areas. He has published several books on different social issues.Training programmes to personnel of the Non Governmental organizations and consultant services to Local, National and International organizations . He has good network with the NGO'S and promoted several programmes for the community development. He has Life membership in several National associations of social work education.
