Not a Survival Guide is your straight talking parenting companion, guiding you through the transition from childhood to teenage years, one conversation at a time.

You will find moments of comfort, practical approaches to support your journey and (eeep) some home truths.

Offering insight and a sense of community, during what can be a challenging few years, Not a survival Guide combines personal experiences and expert advice, with real life scenarios and accessible analogies.

Carefully crafted to help you make the right choices for your family, encourage healthy conversations with your teen and offer support when it all feels a bit too much.

Note from the author; This book is not a survival guide. I do not believe that teenage years are there to be "survived". They are there to be lived and loved, just like the other stages of parenting that you have already passed through and those you have to come. I am not insinuating it will be an easy ride, but maybe that's part of the fun of it? Failing that, at least within the pages of this book, we are all in it together.

Nicole Howes is a book editor, brand content consultant, company director and mum of two.

Her love of books was clear from a young age, reading for hours, delving into stories with curiosity and exploring the deeper narratives. This passion for words and need to ask questions has continued into her professional life. From her hometown of Norwich, Nicole splits her time between writing her own work, carefully curating corporate tone of voice and editing books for other authors.

Nicole is working to create a future for her son and daughter where they feel safe to ask questions too, in fostering this environment she recognised a requirement for this approach on a much larger scale. This drive for change led to Nicole founding The Quash in 2023, a community set up to support educators and parents alike to prioritise question led learning and encourage confident and open conversations.
