A beautiful college coed becomes suspicious of some weird actions overseas by a naturalized American college professor and confides in her instructor, who alerts a friend in the FBI. It turns out the professor, who conceals a passionate hatred for the US, is in league with Al Qaeda in an ingenious scheme to sneak radioactive "dirty bombs" into the United States to explode simultaneously in New York City and Washington, DC. The intelligence services of Great Britain, Germany, Switzerland, Canada and Interpol become involved in the FBI's frantic efforts to thwart the plot.

The author, William Beecher, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning former Washington correspondent for The Boston Globe, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times. He also served as a top official at the Department of Defense and the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. He earned a BA from Harvard and an MS from Columbia University. Beecher received prestigious medals from the Defense Department and the White House for his work in government. He is a knight in the ancient order of St. John of Medina. In retirement, he is an adjunct professor at the University of Maryland. Previous novels are Mayday Man, Submerged Rage and The Acorn Dossier.
