Obstetrics is a field of medicine that is concerned with pregnancy, child delivery and the postpartum period. Pregnant woman who have diabetes mellitus, thyroid disease, systemic lupus erythematosus, hypercoagulability, etc. are at risk for developing complications in pregnancy.
