Todo ello se logra, ademÃ¡s, sin que merme en absoluto la cohesiÃ³n que mantiene unidos sus episodios.

ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Here is one of the greatest epic poems of all time: Odyssey. It narrates the return of the hero, Odysseus, to his homeland, Ithaca, after the conquest of Troy.

Composed like the Iliad in hexameters, it collects numerous folk tales and legends that, adapted, are integrated into the epic. In this way, while in the Iliad the central theme, the anger of Achilles, advances inexorably, verse by verse, from its approach to its denouement, in Odyssey the return of the hero is narrated, with masterful art, without fearing turns or digressions, because the supreme objective is to achieve greater joy in the narration of beautiful stories. All this is achieved, moreover, without in any way diminishing the cohesion that holds its episodes together.

About The Author

Homero: - "Según la tradición, el poeta griego Homero (ss. IX-VIII a. de C., aproximadamente) fue el autor de la Ilíada y de la Odisea, por lo que es considerado uno de los escritores más influyentes de todos los tiempos. Algunos críticos modernos, sin embargo, mantienen que Homero no fue el auténtico creador de estas obras, sino que se limitó a compilar y unificar una gran cantidad de relatos orales que él mismo recitaba. Sea como fuere, ambos poemas se convirtieron en la base de la educación y cultura griega en la época clásica, así como de la literatura occidental moderna.

Homer was probably born around 725BC on the Coast of Asia Minor, now the coast of Turkey, but then really a part of Greece. Homer was the first Greek writer whose work survives. He was one of a long line of bards, or poets, who worked in the oral tradition. Homer and other bards of the time could recite, or chant, long epic poems. Both works attributed to Homer - the Iliad and the Odyssey - are over ten thousand lines long in the original. Homer must have had an amazing memory but was helped by the formulaic poetry style of the time.
