Il caso del piccolo Lorys Stival, un caso che lui stesso ha definito "una vittoria investigativa che mai avrei voluto conseguire".
In questo libro, l'autore percorrerà con la mente i giorni che precedettero il coinvolgimento dei Crimini Violenti del ROS nelle indagini, quelli d'impiego nella Nobile Terra di Sicilia, in particolare nella provincia iblea, le poche ore libere di quel mese di dicembre del 2014.
Come negli altri due libri, Rino Sciuto vuole condurre il lettore sin dentro l'apparato investigativo che elabora, analizza e percorre tutti i chilometri di quel tragitto investigativo, talvolta anche ripido e tortuoso, che diventa implacabilmente "frammento di vita incancellabile", comunque esso finisca.
Questo libro, oltre a lanciare un messaggio a tutti coloro che sapendo, o percependo, di avere un familiare che esterna "silenziosi malesseri", sono sopraffatti dall'innaturale gesto di nascondere la polvere sotto il fatidico tappeto, vuole essere anche una sorta di prontuario conoscitivo per chi si addentra nei sentieri criminologici e in quelli investigativi.
Lo stile di Rino Sciuto, stavolta arricchito anche di particolari che nulla hanno a che vedere con le indagini stesse, rimane sempre quello semplice, chiaro, diretto e da Carabiniere.
