Growing up outside of Buffalo, New York - with a strict father, a music teacher who told him he'd never make it, and a blue Ludwig Rocker drum kit he had no business owning - Lou learned early that the most important things in life aren't the ones that come easy.

Decades later, after raising two daughters and building a life, he found his way back to what he'd always loved: sitting behind a drum kit, playing music with people he trusted, in a room full of people who showed up just to have a good time.

One Beat At A Time is the story of that journey - from practicing on a bucket in his living room to opening for Old Dominion, Eddie Money, and Cody Johnson. From backyard parties in Eden, New York to packed bars and Pennsylvania music festivals. From lineups that clicked to the moments they fell apart, and everything in between.

This isn't a rock star memoir. There's no record deal, no arena tour, no tabloid drama. What there is - is fifty years of friendship, a band called The Rough Stock Band that was never quite perfect and always completely real, the loss of a friend he'll never stop missing, and the hard-earned understanding that the moments we spend doing exactly what we love, with people we genuinely care about, are the ones that stay with us forever.
