About The Author

Vasant Mote worked as a Planning Officer in Calico Mills Ahmedabad. He joined the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIMA) in 1962 where he worked as a Professor until he retired in 1993. During his career in the Institute V. L. Mote took consulting assignments from many reputed Indian firms. His clients included among others Binny Ltd, The Gujarat Road Transport Corporation, Clarion Advertising Agency, Mumbai, and Arvind Mills. T. Madhavan joined the Institute as an Assistant Professor and retired as a Professor in May 2003. After retirement, he served as Cat Centre Coordinator from 2003 to 2006. He continued as visiting faculty in the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad till May 2011. Applications of Mathematics for the betterment of life in the rural India is his major research interest.
