His research work is focused on optical materials related to the development of various types of specialty optical fibers for the making of fiber-based photonics devices and components. He had a strong international collaborative research network with different countries such as UK, France, Malaysia, Portugal, Taiwan, China, Vietnam, Russia, Mexico, Japan and Indonesia. He has published more than 300 papers in peer-reviewed journals and conferences, written seven book chapters, and edited one book, Fiber Lasers (Nova Science Publishers, 2017). He also holds 7 US patents and has filed 4 Indian patents.
