Zigbee ist eine der neuesten Technologien, die von der Zigbee Alliance entwickelt wurde, um WPAN zu erm�glichen. Die Zigbee-Technologie hat im Vergleich zu anderen drahtlosen Standards wie Wi-Fi, WiMAX usw. bessere Eigenschaften. Obwohl die �bertragungsreichweite von Zigbee nur wenige Meter betr�gt, verf�gt das Netzwerk �ber mehrere Schichten, die die zwischenmenschliche Kommunikation innerhalb des Netzwerks erm�glichen, sowie �ber geeignete Routing-Techniken, die dazu f�hren k�nnen, dass die Daten auch �ber gr� ere Entfernungen �bertragen werden k�nnen, was zu einer Erh�hung der Signal�bertragungsreichweite f�hrt. Der Schwerpunkt der vorliegenden Arbeit liegt auf der Signalreichweite im Zigbee-Netzwerk. F�r die Analyse wurde die Simulink-basierte Software TRUETIME 2.0 in MATLAB verwendet. Ein energieeffizientes Zigbee-basiertes AODV-Routing-Protokoll mit integriertem CSMA-CA MAC-Kanalzugriff wird f�r die Bestimmung einer Route zu einem Zielknoten vorgeschlagen. Es werden verschiedene Netzwerksimulationsszenarien erstellt, um die Auswirkungen der Leistungsmetriken auf die Leistung des Zigbee-Netzwerks zu verstehen. Um die Signal�bertragungsreichweite des Zigbee-Netzwerks zu maximieren, werden verschiedene Soft-Computing-Techniken eingesetzt. Ein Teil der Hardware-Implementierung des Zigbee-Netzwerks wird auf einem ARM 7-basierten Controller durchgef�hrt.
