Y finalmente, cómo cultivarlas en casa, luz, agua, temperatura, fertilización, cómo se corta la vara después de la floración, cómo se trasplanta, principales problemas, enfermedades y parásitos, cómo hacerlas florecer, etc. Las Phalaenopsis, por más que sean las orquídeas más vendidas, no son más que una pequeñísima parte del mundo de las orquídeas, un mundo maravilloso que no espera otra cosa que ser descubierto para mostrar a los amantes del verde sus tesoros, éste libro quiere acompañar de la mano a aquéllos que, después de algunas Phalaenopsis, quieren explorar este infinito y fantástico mundo.

Giancarlo Pozzi, nacido en una familia de floricultores, fue contagiado por el virus de la orquideomanía cuando era joven, casi 50 años atrás, visitando una gran floricultura en el sur de Italia, vió un centenar de plantas de Phalaenopsis espléndidamente florecidas que esa empresa había importado desde los USA para hacer unas pruebas de cultivo. Fue deslumbrado, como San Paolo sobre la via de Damasco, Giancarlo convenció el padre a cultivar las primeras Phalaenopsis y Cattleya, y unos diez años después la empresa producía sólo orquideas. Hoy la Orchideria di Morosolo es especializada en las orquídeas botánicas e híbridos particulares y, por las muchísimas variedades cultivadas, parece más un jardín botánico que una empresa de floricultura.
