Ellis Abraham Davidson (1828–1878) was a British Jewish writer, educator, and pioneer in art education. Trained at the London School of Design and South Kensington’s School of Art, he helped establish provincial art schools and taught at the Government School of Arts and Crafts in Chester. Later, he became principal art master at the City Middle Class School. Davidson authored numerous educational books on drawing, construction, science, and general knowledge, widely used in schools. A passionate lecturer and community advocate, he supported adult education among Jewish working-class families. His innovative teaching models and writings greatly influenced 19th-century British art instruction.
