Gardening in Colorado is quite different from other states. For one, we have long cold winter months and a short hot summer season. The compilation of this Photobook is according to what we (Hermann and I) experienced living and gardening together for eleven years in Colorado. We are neither horticulturists, nor expert gardeners - nor are we trying to be. We just love to garden and share it with you to enjoy and learn something. This book has pages of pictures of beautiful and colorful flowers of our garden from spring to fall. As well as small animals that visit our garden; birds, bees and butterflies. Browsing through the pages will make you want to create your own garden; if not, then just enjoy looking at our garden in this book. Enjoy!

Vien R. Guenther was born and grew up in the Philippines. She studied Architecture but worked mostly on government road projects in Manila. She later migrated to the United States to join her family in California and worked at a local energy company. Vien is an avid reader, but she never imagined that she would write a book herself. Looking back, she recalled the times when she almost got into trouble, reading while in the middle of a lecture (listening to details about sewer design must be boring), and at work when the boss suddenly arrived and found her tucked into a book (waiting for printouts was her excuse). She loved her job and was good at it, but that didn't leave her much time for reading. Vien's career path changed unexpectedly after marrying her husband, whom she first met and worked with years back in Manila. Both never thought that they would meet up again and end up together years later. Moving to Colorado, where her husband had lived for years, she found more time than she is used to have. Creating photo books about various subjects found in nature, such as animals and wildflowers, kept her busy while waiting for job openings. Her proficiency in computers helped her start creating these books and one of them won "Book of the Year 2012" from the publisher. Later on, her writing transitioned into travel journals, inspired by her travels with her husband. She found that she loved doing research and at the same time learning about the countries that they have visited. Besides her other passions of gardening, cooking, crafting and photography, this newfound career has kept her busy ever since.
