ROSBAUDS ge- schrieben habe, bildet den ersten Versuch, das neue Gebiet der Oxyd- keramik, an derenAusbau der Autor durch eigene mehrjahrigeArbeiten beteiIigt war, zusammenfassend zu schildern. Del' eingenommene Stand- punkt del' physikalischen Chemie des festen Zustandes fiihrte zur Auf- fassung, daB zwischen den oxydischen Systemen einerseits und den vielfach bessel' erforschten und technisch beherrschten metallischen Systemen anderersei ts innere Zusammenhange existieren. Insofern er- scheint es berechtigt, von del' "Keramographie" solcher oxydisch- keramischer Systeme zu sprechen, im gleichen Sinne wie von del' Me- tallographie auf dem Geoiete del' MetaIlkunde. Die Verfolgung del' keramographischen Gesichtspunkte scheint geeignet, manche neuen Er- kenntnisse und weiteren Zusammenhange zutage zu fOrdem. Die Niederschrift des Manuskriptes fiel in die schwere Zeit des zweiten Weltkrieges und war im Jahre 1942 im wesentlichen abge- schlossen. Die fUr das Jahr 1943 beabs, ichtigte Drucklegung des Buches konnte erst jetzt zu Ende gefiihrt werden. Da der Autor bald nach dem Kriegsende nach Amerika ging, hat der Verlag fUr die Erledigung der letzten Korrekturen und Beseitigung einiger Unebenheiten im Text usw. Sorge getragen. Zwischen dem AbschluB des Manuskriptes und dem Zeitpunkt des Erscheinens des Buches sind einige Jahre verflossen, in denen auf dem behandelten Gebiet weitere Arbeiten - teils vom Autor selbst - aus- gefiihrt und neue Ergebnisse erzielt worden sind. Diese sind im vorl ie- genden Buch noch ntcht beriicksichtigt.
