Janice Braice, an excellent paralegal, encounters unexpected paranormal and romantic disturbances in her workaday world at three successive law firms.

First, The Mummy's Law Firm. The founding partner of the Bajette law firm disappeared years ago. His alluring spouse steadfastly expects his return as the firm hires one replacement after another. Two disappeared, two others died, cause of death unknown. Janice quietly perseveres until her concern becomes personal when the firm hires the handsome Bryce Chandless. Will he be the next victim? Can her friend Lenny help her solve the mystery in time?

Second, Our Client? A Vampire? Lawyers at a Bajette firm successor meet with a strange, new client, Sir Peregrine Aspinall. Money is no object as he interviews one lawyer after the other. Tasked with entertaining his 20 year old son and 8 year old daughter, Janice falls for the indifferent boy and offloads the pinafore tantrum onto Lenny. The girl's odd behavior induces him to discover uncomfortable truths about the Aspinall family while Janice's law firm collapses due to a fundamentalist frenzy.

Third, Genie v. Robot. Appointed administrator of a recluse's estate, Lenny sells her home and auctions off her personal positions, except for a box lot he purchases himself to close the case. An Ivorex plaque in that box lot imprisons a genie whom Lenny releases. The genie is horrified to hear of a company producing robots that will satisfy all of a person's desires. What will become of genies in that event? This company is represented by Bryce's law firm, where Janice now works despite the unrequited romantic overhang. Suing the robot company brings Lenny into contact with Bryce and Janice yet again.
