Der erste Teil Perfect Guitar - The Pentatonic Workbook erschien in Erstauflage im Jahr 2002 und wurde vom österreichischen Bundesministerium für Bildung, Wissenschaft und Kultur geprüft und für den Unterricht zugelassen. Seither wanderten von diesem Buch zigtausende Exemplare über die Ladentische und es fand in unzähligen Musikschulen als Standardwerk für E-Gitarre Einzug. Auch im Internetlexikon Wikipedia wird das Buch als Referenz über Artikel zum Thema Pentatonik verwendet. In diesem Band befinden sich technische Übungen, die darauf abzielen, die Motorik der Greifhand zu entwickeln, Griffroutinen durch immer wiederkehrende Muster zu erarbeiten und Bewegungsablaufe zu festigen. Zusätzlich wird die Koordination zwischen linker und rechter Hand gefördert. Der zweite Teil Perfect Guitar - The Pentatonic Practice Book erschien als genau abgestimmter Begleitband und zeigt an Hand vieler praktischer Beispiele und Übungssongs, wie die Pentatonik in der Praxis in Kombination mit den gängigsten Spieltechniken verwendet werden kann. Dazu gibt es viele theoretische Erklärungen, um die Pentatonik richtig anwenden zu können. Die Bücher sind mit einem ansteigenden Schwierigkeitsgrad aufgebaut. Daher eignen sie sich zum Selbststudium genauso wie für Gitarrenlehrer, die den Inhalt als hervorragend aufbereitetes Unterrichtsmaterial nutzen können. Alle Beispiele sind exakt in Noten und Tabulatur sowie den dazugehörigen Fingersätzen notiert und sind auch im Mp3 Format zum Nachhören als Gratis-Download erhältlich. Bernd Kofler ist ein österreichischer Studio- und Livegitarrist für zahlreiche Künstler in Europa und den USA mit mehrfachen Gold- und Platinauszeichnungen. Er stammt aus Graz und absolvierte das Johann Josef Fux - Konservatorium. Seit 2002 ist er Leiter der Music Academy Austria, für die er auch ein Ausbildungs- und Gitarrenprogramm entworfen hat. Die E-Gitarrenlehrbücher von Bernd Kofler werden als Standard-Unterrichtsmaterial in vielen Schulen verwendet und dienen als Referenzmaterial für Wikipedia.
