Zunächst werden die Konsequenzen einer elterlichen Scheidung bzw. Trennung beleuchtet, gefolgt von Eltern mit affektiven Störungen und der materiellen und sozialen Lebenslage von Familien. Daraufhin werden mögliche Persönlichkeits- und Verhaltensstörungen bei Jugendlichen vorgestellt und zuletzt ein Fazit gezogen. Das Jugendalter bzw. die Adoleszenz ist eine der entscheidendsten Lebensphasen eines jeden Menschen. Die biologische Umwandlung in der Pubertät ist mit psychosozialen Wandlungen verbunden, die den Jugendlichen auf die Erwachsenenwelt bereit macht. Die Adoleszenz kennzeichnet den Übergang vom Kindes- ins Erwachsenenalter und gilt als eine normative psychische Umbruchszeit. Individuen durchleben diese Phase mittlerweile bis tief in die Zwanzigerjahre, wodurch sie mittlerweile ca. mehr als zehn Jahre des Lebens ausmacht. Hurrelmann und Quenzel unterscheiden die Faktoren, die eine Auswirkung auf die Persönlichkeitsentwicklung von Jugendlichen haben, in äu ere und innere Einflüsse. Die äu eren Einflüsse sind sozialer, ökonomischer und kultureller Natur und werden vor allem von der soziologischen Forschung analysiert. Bei den inneren Einflüssen stehen die angeborenen psychischen und körperlichen Faktoren im Mittelpunkt und werden von Psychologen und Neurobiologen erforscht. Mehr als 80 % der Jugendlichen bewältigen ihre Entwicklungsphase ohne psychische Konflikte, jedoch sind sie durch die seelische Auseinandersetzung samt den körperlichen, kognitiven, emotionalen und sozialen Neuorientierungen starker Belastung ausgesetzt.
