Persuasion is a novel by Jane Austen, published in 1817. The story follows Anne Elliot, a 27-year-old woman who is still unmarried, despite having had a chance at love in her youth. Anne's family is in financial trouble, and they are forced to rent out their home to an admiral and his wife. The admiral's wife turns out to be Anne's former love interest, Captain Wentworth. Anne is torn between her feelings for Wentworth and her duty to her family. As the story progresses, Anne must navigate the complexities of love, social status, and family obligations. Persuasion is considered one of Austen's greatest works, known for its subtle wit and insight into human relationships.Sir Walter Elliot, of Kellynch Hall, in Somersetshire, was a man who, for his own amusement, never took up any book but the Baronetage; there he found occupation for an idle hour, and consolation in a distressed one; there his faculties were roused into admiration and respect, by contemplating the limited remnant of the earliest patents.This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations.
