Plastics in Coastal and Marine Environments: A Global Crisis is the first foundational reference book focused on plastics and their impacts on coasts and oceans. It concludes with possible strategies to tackle the inexorable rising of plastic litter in coastal and marine environments.

Nelson Guillermo Rangel-Buitrago (BSc. Geology, MSc. Earth Sciences, Ph.D. Sea Sciences) is a full Professor in the Geology, Geophysics, and Marine-Research Group at the Universidad del Atlántico, Barranquilla, Colombia. He is the Chief Editor of the Ocean Coastal and Management Journal and Associated Editor in the Marine Pollution Bulletin, both published by Elsevier. He has been teaching at the university level since 2003. His research and teaching focuses on Coastal Geology, Coastal Geomorphology, Coastal Hazards, Marine Pollution, Marine Litter and Coastal Management. Besides his teaching experience, he has participated in diverse multidisciplinary research projects and has served as an expert consultant for national and international organizations.
