Jamie began attending Easton Church of Christ in the spring of 2025. I could see immediately that he had a deep desire to serve God with all of his might. That desire came from recognizing the amazing Creator we have. I soon became aware of his longing to express his awe of the God we serve. His expressions come in the form of song and poetry. Jamie has reopened the door to special music on Sunday mornings at Easton. It was never locked shut, just not opened for a long period of time. His passion for singing led him to join the Easton Express, our Sunday morning worship band.

Jamie also has a keen knack for free verse and blank verse poetry. He often sends me a poem via text, and I am always amazed by his ability to describe God as the amazing Creator and Sustainer He is. He gives equal credence to our Savior, Jesus Christ, and to His awesome Holy Spirit, who encapsulates our lives when we do God's will. I'm anxious to see this new collection of poems that will undoubtedly magnify the cause and effect, the blessings, the promises, and the revelations of our Father, Son, and the Holy Spirit.

Preacher Jeff Strickler, Easton Church of Christ

Examples:

WE WILL NOT BE SILENT
The world feels heavier
The walls fall closer
Even as I cry with my voice
The grand Composer helps me make the easiest choice
Singing heavenly praise
Rejoice, rejoice, rejoice

We will not be silent
Rise up, brothers and sisters
Our hearts will not fear the earthly power of the black lister
Raise our faces to the Creator
Never losing courage
To do what is right

Sometimes, it seems hopeless
We just need to be reminded
That Lord Jesus has already written the last page
To the greatest story
And upon the redemptive stage
Sits a King like no other
Sin, once and for all, will be smothered
Leaving blessings for His people
Granting strength and peace
To all who repent

Be strong and let your heart take courage
All who hope in the Lord.

WHEN SANITY BECAME INSANE
I wish someone would explain
When a difference of opinion becomes hate
When sanity became insane
Words of peace; violence did make

We stand at a precipice
Looking over the edge
Shaking at certain destruction
As we willingly jump over the ledge
All in the name of elusive certainty
A desperate need for universal acceptance

Why do you care what people think?
How do words lead you to violence?
Breathe, breathe, and pray in silence
The world is so much bigger, yet smaller than we realize
Seek gratitude and accept grace
Then maybe, just maybe, calm will materialize
Dispelling evil
Embracing unity.

FORGIVE THE UNFORGIVABLE
I walk in sin no more
I dance with the heavenly Father
Staring at the stars in wonder
I put my finger
On a page, it lingers
A page in Colossians
It reads that we have been chosen
Holy and beloved
Telling us to put on a heart of compassion
Spread kindness to everyone we meet
Even those who don't understand
Live with humility in every situation
Love with gentleness
As the world comes at you aggressively
Embrace patience with family
We are all in need of grace
And no matter what, forgive
Forgive the unforgivable
Love the impossible
Then forgive again and again
Until reconciliation is achieved
All our sins were nailed to the cross
The ultimate sacrifice from a God who calls us home.
