When I published my first book back in 2010 all my author friends said you must have a blog, so with a lot of help and many prayers Layers of the Heart became a blog. Sadly due to illness, surgery and an immediate family death, my post became less and less and people asking me to post some poems and stories became greater and greater. So I had a hard copy made of my blog in 2012 as a gift for Christmas for a friend, and my friend returned it and said this needs to be shared, I think you need to turn this into a book. It took me this long to get the help I needed to make it happen, but I am humbled, excited and so happy to share my stories, poetry and prayers. You see encouragement, inspiration, joy, and smiles are some of my favorite things, The world needs as many bright lights and places to find hope and love, for we can never have to much of either. My name is Patricia, but I use a pseudonym for my writing, which is why the cover of the book has Columbia Valentine Scot. Columbia was my Nona(grandma) in English and some of you got to meet her in my first book. Valentine stands for love, and Scot came from my baby brother Scott whom I helped raise. Thus out of the bond I hold with each of them a new meaningful name was born. I have had many poems and short stories published under that name and it feels like a comforting friend. I live in the beautiful Catskill mountain region in upstate New York, easily inspired by my surroundings, change of seasons, and the many different animals that share my ten acres that surround my little white cottage. I have been writing since age nine and won a contest at the age of ten in a local paper and never turned back. People are my inspiration. I love the undeniable similarities and the wonderful differences between us, it is from this point of view the words flow on the pages. I hope you enjoy the vast topics and stories, as well as the acknowledgement of just how connected we all are. In the meantime, I can begin my Sequel for "Layers of the Heart" God Bless, love and light
