November 1917, "Politik als Beruf" am 28. Januar 1919 gehalten. Die Vortr ge waren Teil einer Vortragsreihe, die der "Feistudentische Bund, Landesverband Bayern" vermutlich seit dem Sommer 1917 plante und bei denen er dann auch als Veranstalter fungierte. Zwischen diesen beiden Daten liegen die endg ltige milit rische Niederlage des Deutschen Reichs und die Novemberrevolution. Dazwischen liegt auch die Fortf hrung von Webers Publizistik zu au en- und innenpolitischen, besonders verfassungspolitischen Fragen sowie seine Teilnahme am Wahlkampf f r die Nationalversammlung, den er f r die Deutsche Demokratische Partei (DDP) f hrte. Weber hielt bereits w hrend des Ersten Weltkriegs politische Reden, in denen er sich f r einen Verst ndigungsfrieden einsetzte und mit der "Prestigepolitik" der Rechten abrechnete. Er nahm auch zur au en- und innenpolitischen Lage des Deutschen Reiches Stellung und trat f r einen Verst ndigungsfrieden, f r die Parlamentarisierung der Reichsverfassung und f r die Demokratisierung des deutschen Staatslebens ein. "Wissenschaft als Beruf" fiel in eine lebensgeschichtliche Phase, in der Weber versuchte, sich nicht mehr nur als Forscher, sondern auch als Politiker und als Lehrer zu bew hren. W hrend er "Politik als Beruf" vortrug, waren die v llige Entmachtung Deutschlands und die Fremdherrschaft in greifbare N he ger ckt; er sah f r Deutschland zun chst eine "Polarnacht von eiserner Finsternis und H rte" voraus.
