In den Jahren 1974 bis 1978 förderte das Bundesministe- rium für Forschung und Technologie (BMFT) im Rahmen des 2. und 3. DV-Programmes der Bundesregierung das For- schungsprojekt 'ökonometrische Methodenbank'. Zielset- zung dieses Projektes war, ein für den praktischen Wirtschaftforscher und den Wirtschaftswissenschaftler an den Hochschulen gleicherma en auf unterschiedlichen Rechenanlagen einsetzbares DV-System zu schaffen. Auf- grund der komplexen AufgabensteIlung waren sowohl an der Konzeption als auch an der DV-technischen Realisie- rung des Projektes verschiedene Gruppen beteiligt. Herr Dr. K. H. Hauer war als Leiter der mit der Entwicklung des zentralen Steuersystems betrauten Gruppe auch mit der notwendigen Koordination der einzelnen Gruppen befa t. Seine Erfahrungen und seine Oberlegungen zur Bewältigung der im Rahmen eines derartigen Projektes auftretenden Probleme sGhlagen sich in der hier vorlie- genden Abhandlung nieder. Zahlreiche hochaktuelle Fra- gestellungen des Software Engineering und des Projekt- managements sind mit Blick auf Methodenbanken angespro- chen. Dabei geht es ihm weniger um eine Darstellung der in dem speziellen Projekt gewählten Lösung, sondern vielmehr um eine saubere Klärung häufig verwendeter Begriffe, wie z. B. 'Methodenbank', und um eine operable Fassung von häufig genannten Forderungen der Software- Technologie, wie z. B. 'Portabilität'. Im Vordergrund steht daher die Diskussion grundsätzlicher Lösungsmög- lichkeiten der immer aktueller werdenden DV-technischen Probleme bei der Entwicklung anwendungsnaher oftware, wie die sogenannten Methodenbanken.
