Harriet Grayson holds two Masters degrees from New York University, Wagner School (Masters in Urban Planning) and from University of Denver (MA in Urban Sociology) and baccalaureate degree from Queens College, Flushing, NY (BA). She began her professional career as an urban planner in NYC and Colorado. She was the Emergency Medical Services Planner for the state of Colorado. She has also worked in the private sector as well as an entrepreneur starting her own events planning business. Ms. Grayson worked as a strategic marketing executive in the insurance field working with corporate conference planners and conducting market research on new product development. She has assisted insurance agents in learning the "Art of the Ask" how to close the deal and ask for the money. She is the author of several useful guides in the fundraising and grants writing areas including: "Guide to Grants Writing for Non-Profits," "Guide to Government Grants & Vendor Opportunities," and "Special Events Planning for Non-Profits." Ms. Grayson is the President of 5 Star Seminars (www.5starseminars.net) a company specializing in conducting seminars on grants writing and fundraising for community groups, local and state government, non-profits and associations. She has taught college level courses on Strategic Marketing, Marketing Research Techniques, Introduction to Sociology and Demography and Grants Writing in Colorado, Massachusetts and Connecticut. She is the host/producer of a public access TV show promoting the arts and culture of coastal CT & RI available via YouTube: (www.communitycultureshowcase.weebly.com).
