About The Book

Prayer is the most intimate conversation that we can have with our Heavenly Father. God is always there for us, and so it is only right that we give thanks to Him through worship and prayer. It can be difficult to prepare a prayer which clearly communicates what you and your congregation are thankful for - what they might need in their lives at that moment. But Praying the Lectionary has done all the hard work of composing a prayer for each Sunday of the church year.

This book offers prayers specific to what congregations are going through during different moments of the church year, such as awaiting the coming of Jesus at Christmas, or mourning His death and anticipating His resurrection on Easter. With these prayers, pastors and other worship leaders can focus their attention on other ways to spread God's love to their congregation.

The prayers in this volume have been carefully composed for the entire church year by Rev. Garth Wehrfritz-Hanson of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. With prayers from the beginning of Advent through Christ the King Sunday, this resource will help inspire your congregation to go out into the world, serving their neighbors as Christ has done for them.

About The Author

Wehrfritz-Hanson, Garth: - GARTH WEHRFRITZ-HANSON has been an ordained pastor in the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada for thirty years. He has served several congregations as pastor, co-pastor with his wife Reverend Julianna, pulpit supply pastor, and interim pastor in the Alberta and the Territories Synod. He served as a chaplain in the Good Samaritan Society facility of South Ridge Village in Medicine Hat, Alberta, for over eleven years. Reverend Wehrfritz-Hanson is a graduate of the University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon (B.A.), and Lutheran Theological Seminary, Saskatoon (M.Div.).
