Precambrian Geotectonics in the Himalaya provides a deep overview on geology and tectonics of the Precambrian domains of the Himalaya. Authored by an expert with over five decades of work in Precambrian Himalaya, the book studies 'Window' zones to provide a scope for understanding Precambrian deformation effects. The book specifically covers the holistic Precambrian geotectonic of the terrain and revises the subduction-back thrusting model of the Cenozoic evolution. Considering Precambrian regional events are not clearly recognised or visualised in many sectors due to overlapping crystallines, this book details a Precambrian geotectonic framework of the terrain on which the Himalayan event evolved.

Precambrian Geotectonics in the Himalaya is a necessary reference for Earth scientists, exploration and hazard management scientists, professors (and students) who carry out research what requires a comprehensive picture of the Precambrian Himalaya and in totality with the adjacent peninsula.

Chakrabarti, B. K.: - Dr. Chakrabarti served as the Director of the Geological Survey of India (GSI) for over thirty-five years and retired in 2003. Before joining GSI in 1968, he carried out work in the peninsular Precambrians as a research fellow in Presidency college, Kolkata where his field work started with the Himachal Himalaya and continued as research on deformation and metamorphism in the Himalaya in the Central Petrological Laboratories. Dr. Chakrabarti has published over 40 articles, two books and has edited 7 major publications and several journal issues. He served as editor-in-chief of the previously named journal 'Indian Minerals' for many years and was one of the editors of the M.S. Krishnan Centenary Volume on Precambrian geology of India (GSI).
