I dati meteorologici del CCMMMA sono stati utilizzati per personalizzare un sistema prototipo incentrato sui vulcani dell'Italia meridionale che consente la previsione su richiesta della dispersione delle nubi di cenere. L'obiettivo � quello di implementare un flusso di lavoro di modelli accoppiati integrati in un sistema di calcolo avanzato, in grado di fornire simulazioni orarie su richiesta orientate alla dispersione delle nubi di cenere provenienti dalle eruzioni vulcaniche. I dati meteorologici giornalieri del modello Weather and Research Forecast (WRF) sono stati accoppiati con il sistema di modellizzazione CALPUFF per ottenere una previsione oraria della dispersione delle nubi di cenere vulcanica nell'Italia meridionale. Questo processo potrebbe essere utile per il sistema di allerta precoce e per migliorare gli studi sulla sicurezza dei voli, la protezione dell'ambiente e il cambiamento climatico. In questo lavoro saranno presentati alcuni casi di studio con la convalida dei risultati.
