Principles and Methods of Physical Anthropology offers an in-depth exploration of human biological and evolutionary development. It covers key topics such as human origins, genetic variation, primatology, fossil evidence, and evolutionary theory. The book also details scientific methods used in physical anthropology, including osteology, anthropometry, and forensic techniques. By combining theory with real-world applications, it explains how genetics, environment, and culture shape human diversity. This work effectively connects biological sciences with anthropology, making it an essential resource for students and professionals in anthropology, archaeology, and related fields seeking a thorough understanding of human evolution and physical variation

Sarat Chandra Roy (1871–1942), often hailed as the father of Indian ethnography, was a pioneering Indian anthropologist and ethnographer. Initially trained in English literature and law, his career shifted after witnessing the exploitation of tribal communities in Chota Nagpur while working as a lawyer in Ranchi. Deeply moved, he dedicated his life to studying and documenting the languages, customs, religions, and laws of tribes like the Munda and Oraon. Despite lacking formal training in anthropology, his groundbreaking fieldwork and writings laid the foundation for Indian anthropology. He also edited Man in India and taught at Calcutta and Patna universities
