These proceedings represent the work of contributors to the 19th International Conference on Cyber Warfare and Security (ICCWS 2024), hosted University of Johannesburg, South Africa on 26-27 March 2024. The Conference Chair is Dr. Jaco du Toit, University of Johannesburg, South Africa, and the Program Chair is Prof Brett van Niekerk, from Durban University of Technology. South Africa.


ICCWS is a well-established event on the academic research calendar and now in its 19th year, the key aim remains the opportunity for participants to share ideas and meet the people who hold them. The scope of papers will ensure an interesting two days. The subjects covered illustrate the wide range of topics that fall into this important and ever-growing area of research.


The opening keynote presentation is given by Prof Joey Jansen van Vuuren, Tshwane University of Technology, City of Johannesburg, Gauteng, South Africa, on the topic of The threat of ransomware attacks in Higher Education Institutions. The second day of the conference will open with an address by Dr Manuel Corregedor, Chief Executive Officer at Telspace Africa. His talk is titled A cyber security tale from the trenches.


With an initial submission of 163 abstracts, after the double blind, peer review process there are 49 Academic research papers, 8 PhD research papers, 8 Masters Research papers and 6 work-in-progress papers published in these Conference Proceedings. These papers represent research from Australia, Botswana, Canada, China, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, India, Mozambique, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, UK, and USA.
