These conference proceedings cover recent advances in the field of developmental biology in plants. The developmental processes explored here are mainly focused on photomorphogenesis, flowering time control and the circadian clock.

Madhusmita Panigrahy is currently a Young Scientist in the Department of Science and Technology at the National Institute of Science Education and Research, India. She received her PhD from the University of Freiburg, Germany, in 2004. Her specialized areas of research are plant physiology and agricultural biotechnology in the fields of abiotic stress and photomorphogenic developments. She is the recipient of many prestigious fellowships and awards from the Indian government, a DFG Fellowship from the German Federal Government, a Research Fellowship from the Indian Academy of Sciences, and a Postdoctoral Fellowship for Women from the University Grants Commission.

Kishore Panigrahi is a Reader of Plant Biology at the National Institute of Science Education and Research, India. His research focuses on light signalling and flowering time. He received his PhD in Molecular Biology from Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, India, in 1998, and conducted postdoctoral studies in plant functional genomics and plant light signalling at the University of Lausanne, Switzerland, and the University of Freiburg, Germany. He has also worked as Group Leader at the Max-Planck Institute, Koln, Germany, and as the Coordinator of the DAAD funded-programme "A New Passage to India".
