Ein zentrales Anliegen der Arbeit ist es aufzuzeigen, wie sich die unterschiedlichen Professionalisierungsbemühungen der Pflege in Deutschland darstellen und wie sie im Hinblick auf der Grundlage klassischer Professionstheorien und dem handlungsorientierten Professionalisierungsansatz von Oevermann zu bewerten sind. In einem ersten Schritt wird der Begriff Professionalisierung bestimmt, dazu werden verschiedene Beiträge aus der soziologischen Professionsdebatte vorgestellt, um auf deren Basis zu einer Einschätzung des Professionalisierungsgrades der Pflege zu kommen. Im Anschluss wird der handlungsorientierte Ansatz von Oevermann dargestellt, in dem das berufliche Handeln in den Mittelpunkt gerückt wird. Aktuelle Entwicklungen der Pflegeausbildung werden skizziert und kritisch im Hinblick auf Oevermann betrachtet. Es wird deutlich, dass es einer grö eren Zahl beruflich Pflegender bedarf, die über eine grundständige Pflegeausbildung auf universitäre Ebene verfügen, damit die Professionalität in die pflegerische Praxis kommen kann.

Michael Schwenk, Dipl. Pflegepädagoge (FH), 1975 geboren, schloss sein Studium der Pflegepädagogik im Jahre 2006 mit dem Diplom erfolgreich ab. Seit 2007 arbeitet der Autor als Lehrer an einer großen Krankenpflegeschule im Saarland, nebenbei schreibt er Fachbeiträge für die Zeitschrift "Die Schwester der Pfleger".
