Um den gesteigerten Marktanforderungen gerecht zu werden, bedarf es einer flexiblen Organisation, die sich sowohl auf die sich immer schneller ändernden Marktbedingungen anpasst, aber auch die Qualitätsanforderungen von Kunden und Unternehmen erfüllen kann. Hierbei hat sich das Projektmanagement als geeigneter methodischer Ansatz herausgestellt. Jedoch zeigt sich, dass der Hauptanteil der Projekte das angestrebte Kosten und Terminziel bei weitem verfehlt. So ergab eine Studie der Stanish Group, dass gerade einmal neun % aller Gro projekte und 28% der kleineren und mittleren Projekten das angestrebte "Time and Budget"-Ziel erreicht haben 1. Litke beschreibt sogar, dass Kosten- und Terminüberschreitungen bei Softwareprojekten im Rahmen von 100 - 200% durchaus üblich seien 2. Dabei liegen die Kosten der Informationsverarbeitung mittlerweile zwischen fünf und 15 Prozent der gesamten Kosten eines Unternehmens, wobei Projekte hierbei einen Hauptschwerpunkt bilden 3. Hieraus lässt sich ableiten, dass, neben einem effizienten Projektmanagement, vor allem ein übergreifendes Projektcontrolling entscheidend ist, um die angestrebten Vorgaben eines Projektes zu erreichen. Ziel der vorliegenden Arbeit ist es, Controllingmethoden für Projekte im Allgemeinen und deren spezielle Anforderungen im Bereich von IT-Projekten zu analysieren. Dabei wird die Frage anzugehen sein, inwieweit der Zielkonflikt zwischen den drei Projekteinflussgrö en Leistung/Qualität, Aufwand und Projektdauer 4 harmonisiert werden kann.
